Been a bit since I’ve updated and going to try to keep this updated more often or start a new log of just life and training.
To start I’ve been sick as a dog the last 4 days. Pretty sure it’s the flu and it’s been a killer. Dropped from 207 to 198 and can’t keep anything down but I think I’m almost past this. We also had about 18 inches of snow and an inch of ice dumped on us over that past 2 weeks so traveling anywhere has been nonexistent. They have called off my work for a week or so but this doesn’t really affect me as I can do most all of my work from home during the winter. My kids haven’t had school in two weeks to this weather so I’ve had to sit home and watch them. When I was able to eat, I was sticking really good to my diet and still getting good cardio in but the issue I am facing now is after speaking with my doctor. I’m going to have to have a shoulder surgery at some point this year because the pain is getting unbearable at points with this time I’ve had off. It is definitely helped and it is manageable and I’m looking to get back into the gym this week.
The shoulder surgery that I’m going to have to have is called Distal Clavical Excision or Mumford Prcedure. It’s where you have an impingement in your shoulder from the end of your collarbone that is impending a tendon that gets in there seems like it’s pretty common and weightlifters. It’s a very minimal surgery with very little physical therapy to return to normal. The only issue is is you sign a release when you go to have the surgery if there are rips and tears in your shoulder, they fix them while they are in there if this is the route they have to take then it becomes much worse and a shoulder surgery is extremely hard to come back from from what I hear from friends that I’ve had it so I’m praying it’s just the first option. I’m looking to get back into training this week just doing some light training mostly just keeping up with my cardio and getting my lungs and heart stronger. I will keep everyone updated with my training as soon as I get back. Hopefully I can get this surgery completed within the next couple months and be on course for a recovery to get back into training like I like. I hope that everyone had a good holiday season and everyone stays healthy for this year. Also, I have attached a picture from Google of kind of what the surgery will be.
