Approved Log Powerlifting Prep Cycle Log

Big Squat PB

Last heavy squat for the prep and added 15kg to the last squat hitting a nice 270kg

Fatigue is super high at the moment so moving this somewhat nice gives me good hope for the day.

Planned to hit a big dead after but back want having it unfortunately

1.5 weeks out now 🙏🙏

Kicked off the week with a light SBD session on Monday:
• Squat 200 x 1
• Bench 120 x 1
• Deadlift 220 x 1


Then today went a bit lighter:
• Squat 120 x 3
• Bench 120 x 3
• Deadlift 150 x 3


Focusing on active recovery and mobility this week. With time off work, I’m set to feel fresh and ready by Sunday.


Had a tough wrap-up to last weekended up in the hospital with heat stroke but bounced back quickly after some IV fluids. Now just gotta prioritize nutrition, hydration, and soaking up this chilly southern weather

Comp Day Update


Hey team! I hate to come back with not the greatest news after such an exciting prep and all the support from you guys, especially Core Pharma. Unfortunately, we didn’t really get the day we envisioned this weekend. In my last heavy training session, I re-tweaked my back after it had been feeling so good for so long. I really thought the extended rest afterward, plus a couple of physio sessions, would get me back on track, but it wasn’t great. On top of that, I had heat stroke 8 days out, which knocked my overall health and food intake around for a few days after.


I went into squats feeling not too bad and hit 270kg on my second attempt, which I wasn’t overly disappointed with but I’d hit 270 in training, so I really should have had at least 280. The 270 was a grind, so I called it there and didn’t go for a third. My back really flared up after squats. I hit 145kg on bench and jumped to 155kg for my second attempt with no luck, I’d nailed this in training, so it should have been doable, but I think I just couldn’t get into position with my back being as bad as it was, plus maybe some mental factors too.


Then, warming up for deadlifts, my planned opener was 280kg, but I barely moved 220kg in the warm-up, so I packed it up and went home.


As disappointing as it was, you’ve gotta take the good with the bad, bound to have a rough day eventually, and there are always lessons to learn. I’ve been neglecting my back and hip health for the better part of my powerlifting career, so this was a bit of a wake-up call that you can’t expect to start hitting numbers around 300 and keep excelling without addressing it. So, I’m really focused now on getting my body feeling as good as possible and super mobile. Overall, my drive and fire for the next one is brighter than ever. I’m ready to make a comeback. No slowing down, was back in the gym the next day, starting on rehab.
