Default Pain in Forearms

Just wanted to get some other peoples opinions.

Every once in a while I get sharp pains that start at my wrist and work up my forearm. This happens mainly when I'm doing Biceps and espeacily if I'm using a preacher.

I usually start with wide grip and then move in towards inner grip. The weird thing is that the pain really doesn't kick in until I put the bar down then the pain kicks in.

Tried using Voltaren, Ice gel, Ice and even heat packs and all that seems to to is make it worse.

Any thoughts?

I have tendinitis (sp?) in my hands and it spreads to the tendons in my forearms which causes shooting sharp pains in my forearms.

I did have a slight case of tendinitis about 5 years ago playing sport. Is there anything that you know of that can help with this?

Get a few sessions of acupuncture asap. Will nearly fix the problems. You must really stretch every day at the start then you can stretch less often. Make a fist, straighten the arm, use the other hand to pull the fist down. You will feel the stretch along the top of the forearm. Do that with the fist pointing down, across the body and pointing up.

Its really hard to explain stretches.

Are you using a straight bar? The EZ curl one is usually easier on the wrists.

It doesn't matter which bar I use which is weird I know as the EZ bar is meant to be less stressful on the wrists.

Acupuntre that sounds interesting I've never even considered that and as far as the wrist straps go that sounds like an idea worth investing.

Does anyone else here train forearms seperatly. Would that help them at all?

Acupuncture will make all the difference. But you really need to be consistent with stretching the affected muscle/tendons. If the pain is very bad I would even recommend using a topical anti-inflammatory. Something like neurofen or voltaren gel.

Training the forearms at this point would only make things a lot worse. Id also recommend using straps for lat pull down / chins for a bit as that will take a lot of pressure of those tendons.

I had the same exact same thing for a couple years. I know I'm a little younger but I just focused on not squeezing the bar so hard when I'm lifting and I cut out preacher bench for like 3 months and it went away. When I focused on pretty much just holding the bar in my hands and flexing my biceps without squeezing so hard around the bar it really helped. Don't know if that will help but give it a try!

I have been resting it by only working Bi's once last week which has seemed to help with the pain but I like to work Bi's and Tres twice a week. I'll invest in some good wrist straps and read up on streching methods.

If the pain persists I'll give acupuntre a go. I'll also cut the preacher out for a couple of weeks and see if that helps which I hate as its one of the best ways to isolate the peak.

I find it relaxing. All the tension being released. Some of the lower back ones have a tiny sting a bit but all good and so worth it.

The forearms I believe are related to digestion and the emotional stress that accompany. The point in the right forearm is metaphysically linked to the large intestine. According to Chinese medicine.
