Question Gym Equipment

Just wondering what brand of equipment you have at your gym?

Evilh666 and i have been trying out a different gym over the past week and the machines are terrible, they are very awkward for me and evilh666 doesn't even fit in most of them. This gym doesn't have alot of free weights, there are no mirrors and men aren't even allowed to wear muscle tops while training lol. (btw the brand of equipment at the gym we were trying out was Nautilus)

It is amazing how much a gym can differ. Cant wait to get back into training at our usual gym.

My gym is really well euiped; they have Apex, Atlantis and H.S. The last two are my favourites, machine-wise anyway.

Is the Nautilus newer equipment or is it the old original machines made by Author Jones? I really like the original Nautilus and have 6 of the old 2nd generation nautilus machines in my personal gym. These are generally regarded as being some of the best exercise machines ever made. Jones sold the nautilus line in 1986 and I don't care for the newer machines. By the way, Jones's son Gary Jones is the creator of the Hammer Strength line of exercise equipment. I've worked out on Hammer and really like most of the pieces that I've used. I've also used and own a number of older BodyMaster pieces that I like. For the most part, most of the newer machines on the market today are not as good as the older stuff that were manufactured with spiral cams. This is because manufacturing spiral cams is much more costly than using round cams or pulleys, which is what is used in machines manufactured today.

After he sold nautilus he designed the MED-X line.

LOL...I had written that but deleted it before posting it as I didn't think it added anything. He sold the Med-X line in 1996 and then went into retirement until his death in 2007 at the age of 80yrs.

BodyMasters makes the best lying leg curl I've ever used. Nebula, BodyMasters, Flex, and Cybex are my favs. What I find funny is that some companies make some wonderful pieces and then have some that totally suck. For example, Cybex makes a great 45 degree Leg press. However, their newest lying leg curl under the Eagle series blows as does their stadning calf raise (from Eagle also). Nebula =awesome leg press, terrible standing T-bar Row.

The machines are new, the gym was renovated about a year ago and for the money they spent it should of been so much better. There is only one bench to bench press on and the rest of the gym is just cable machines. The smith machine isn't sturdy especially with alot of weight on it. Not a gym for bodybuilders.

You don't need a machine to do T-Bars.Just stick one end of a BB into a corner, load weights on the other end and put a handle on the end you're gonna' lift and voila! You can also weigh the one end down with a DB if your gym has drywall so you won't bust it............

I know. Thanks. When I do them it's exactly the way you described, as I've been doing them that way for years because many gyms don't have a standing t-bar anyway. The owner gets pissed, though. He's like, "What's wrong with the standing T-Bar?" Myself and every other member who has a clue is like, "It sucks." He then just walks away shrugging his shoulders. He's a good guy but afraid one of us will cause damage to the gym.

My gym has some hammer strength machines and I really like those. But then they have a few life fitness style or whatever they're called and they suck major ass. Then of course they have the mandatory circuit training machines.

I wish I'd win the lottery, then I'd put together an awesome gym and not let anybody work out there but me.

That spins me out. No tank tops no mirrors WTF. The equipment sounds terrible.

Hammer Strength and Maxim are the main suppliers where I train. Good Equip.

By the way if anyone has a FORZA OLYMPIC BENCH consider yourself lucky. The Best Bench ever and their discontinued. That breaks my balls.

Are you talking about the Forza Super Bench often used in Powerlifting Contests? When did they discontinue that bench? It is still listed on their website.

Nope....Some are better than others. The Forza is a competion legal bench that is very solid and well made with a built in spotter/hand off platform. Elite Fitness sells a some very nice competition benchs on there web site. Their new deluxe competition bench with band pegs looks very nice.
