When you hit a vein

Okay, so here's the question.

What happens if you hit a vein?

Most sites that explain how to do IM injection mention that you should withdraw the plunger a bit to see if you've hit a vein. I've never done this, and so far have been good. No abscesses, no infections or redness. The worst I've ever had is leaking out the injection site.

But it struck me that I should find out what happens if you hit a vein. I couldn't find any info. Anyone know first/second hand?

So, is it just oil based you have to worry about?

you wont find many first hand survivors no.... what do you supposed happens when you put oil into your heart and brain assuming it doesnt just clog the vein and kill you right then... aspirate.. for the love of god lol

I aspirate several times during an injection. Not sure if its necessary or not. I know many people who don't bother and haven't run into problems. Mind you in the 13 years I've been using steroids I've only aspirated blood once or twice. With that said once and a while I can get pretty light headed and woozy after a shot but I figure its just nerves.

DATA i also aspirate 3 different times before an injection. literally every 1 in 10 shots i will draw blood. no biggie, i pull out and do it all over again... i just always figured better safe than sorry. when i used to only do the 1 pull, sometimes i would get a cough regardless of the drug iw as using and knew that i hit a vein... im always wondering now with every shot is there the real possibility that we are playing russian R with our lives... i always thought it not too likely... but i know people who have stroked out.

i hit a vein one time. Actually i had my wife aspirate and sure enough blood shot into the plunger. IM injections feel totally different than IV injections, IV hurt more IMO...

I did a 3cc hip injection yesterday and even after aspirating, accidentally shot into a vein. When it first went in, the oil wouldn't go anywhere, the plunger actually pushed some of the oil on top of it (1cc). I finally got the other 2 cc's to go and at the end of the shot, blood forced itself into the syringe.
A couple of seconds later, I was coughing my head off for about 15 minutes.
Chances are, it won't kill you, but it can't be healthy for you!

Thanks Hulk6767. Okay, so not Guaranteed Death.

I was curious if winny v did the same, cause it's fine particulate in suspension. Probably not, from the sound of it.

I also suspect the thickness of the oil might play a factor then. I was using a 300/ml EQ that was so thick it was hard to draw up into the syringe, I will be more carful when I use something like that

You bleed and cough but you don't die. The first 5 year I used I never asparated and I am still here 15 years later. I guess it matters if you directly inject into a vein or not but for the most part I don't think you can if you straight in. I bleed like a fucker all the time and cough at least twice a cycle and it's no big deal.

Happened to me once too and it was acompanyed by a strong metalic taste in the mouth.

As stated, the oil viscosity will have an impact, as of course will the size of the vein. Quite why any member of Bolex wouldn't aspirate is beyond me.
I didn't bother for 15yrs and by some miracle, had no bad experiences. I have educated myself more on the subject of "supplementation" in this 6 months than in the whole of my previous 15yrs.
To ignore the good advice available here IMO is just foolish.

Depends on the size and type of vein, Sometimes u can just pass through a vein which causes bleeding, any signs of blood play it safe and re shoot.

For those that have drawn blood and had to re-shhot, where were you injecting?

I have had a few friends do this as well and none of them have died from it, but i can say it is not good for you and not somethng i would recommend, please asparate and be safe.
