Default One of the best front lat spreads - ever!

I have been going through all of my old negs going back to very early 90s and found this shot of my great mate Sonny Schmidt.

Simply one of the most balanced FLS ever. check out the small waist, quad sweep and shoulder width. I wonder how he would look against today's guys?

Chris is training here since Findlay's closed. Still trains hard and has fitted right in.

That's one hell of a lat spread, I remember thinking back then that he had the best legs going around, quads, hammies and calves, strange he never gets mentioned in discussions about the best wheels of all time.

Unquestionably the best Australia has ever produced.

I am one of those tragics who rates the 90's as the golden era and Sonny was amongst the best ever.

    Nothing but respect.

    RIP.

You're not alone there mate. The 90's were the best years for many reasons.

I recall training at Coolabah Gym, Merrylands, Sydney on two occasions which is where Sonny used to train from time to time. On one of those occasions I was ecstatic to see Sonny there training chest. I ended up not training much at all that day because I wanted to watch him. At the time I was only 20 years old and was interested in getting into bodybuilding and he kinda inspired me to take the sport up.

Then a few years later I was shocked to hear that he was in gaol (not sure if that was true or not) and then a few years after that he passed away. That was a real shame!!

Tony D, if you don't mind me asking mate, what happened to Sonny?

I agree, today's Pro's look like crap compared to those of yesteryear.
Sonny looks fabulous in these photos, but for my money John Terilli was our best Aussie bodybuilder.
I definitely prefer the 80's era over the 90's.

It all depends on your age, I guess. I loved the 70's & 80's.
I guess that's when I was the most impressionable, just starting my training.

Tanning is the most important part of your presentation. No short cuts.

Oh yeah, 70's were awesome too.
I think that Robby Robinson's Front Latspread that he hits in the mirror during Pumping Iron is one of the greatest that I have ever seen.
The shape and detail are simply amazing.
