Default Is it better to cycle creatine?

I've heard a few guys say this. Most recently I was watching an old documentary about Magnus Samuelsson and he said it works best for him if he does six weeks on and four weeks off.

I just always mix it into my protein shakes, but maybe I should take a break for a month?

It never hurts to take a break from anything. Many claim it helps. I only use CREATINE
during off cycle periods anyway so I do take breaks away from its use.

One of these days I'm going to follow this routine and see how well it works: http://ast-ss.com/information/?p=1112. The basic idea is you cycle the creatine 3 days on and 3 days off, whether or not you workout on those days.

I have been using creatine for several years with no breaks... not sure what the rationale would be to take a break??... would you take a break from fish oils or a multivitamin? i see creatine the same way. I will probably take some heat for this response, but it is a safe supp and I dont take more than 5g's a day, so I dont see any reason to come off.

You actually make a very good point. I respect your opinion.

i can see your reasoning.. my reasoning for cycling creatine is the body produces in naturally, so continuously using it will cause the body to give up on producing it naturally.

I have also read that you need to be taking near 10g daily for it to be effective. But, in your defense, the build up you would have over YEARS of using 5g a day, im sure your body would be absorbing enough. my 2c
