Default Birth Control and Weight Gain/Loss

    Hey ladies...

Which birth control pill would you recommend that does not cause excessive weight gain?

I have not been on birth control since I was 23yo...now Im 40. Im training hard to lose an excessive amount of weight (60lbs) and do not want to taken anything that is only going to hinder my weight loss.

    Thanks for your help!!
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Non-hormonal IUD's wont affect your weight and are also very effective contraception

    I second that!

I was on a Depo provera injection years ago and put on soooo much weight. Since I had the IUD put in place I have no problems with weight gain from anything other than what I eat and drink off season

Only one birth control pill is FDA-approved for the treatment of moderate acne. That pill is Ortho Tri-cyclen.

stay away from hormones if you want to not risk it.. you may not necessarily gain weight but it certainly seems difficult to LOSE on almost any pill.. some are worse for sure and the depo shot is straight from hell in terms of weight gain.. if i were still in that position (got my tubes tied about a yr before i got serious about fitness) i would definitely go with some kind of IUD

i agree - stay off the pill - also any woman over 40 considering going on the pill is at higher risk of heart attack, stroke etc...so stay off them!! they also screw up your hormone levels ie some very interesting books on estrogen dominance and how women of this decade have stuffed up their bodies because of the pill - also claims that there are links between the higher breast, ovarian and cervical cancer levels and the pill....
