    Default Brute's Path of Destruction!!

here's to get u guys caught up....prior to this meet, i had blown out my dbl denim a week out from the meet...which sucked ass cause i hadn't got the single-ply F6 to work yet and its more radical than the dbl denim that i "had". so i had some "head" issues and got my ass back into the game for the meet and just winged it. now i know that i'm capable of 650 after well...read on...

    --------------------------------------
    NGBB MEET RESULTS

i weighed in at 279 so in the end, they actually put me into the 308s...LOL!! kinda figured that but i just wanted to get weighed in. me and paul got up there before ATL friday traffic hit. later we hooked up with the CAT 5 CREW big chris, hammer, gunny and biz....felt like we had just seen these guys like yesterday...LOL!! but it was 2 week ago. hammer got weighed in as a 275 and gunny at 242. after that we called it a night and got ready for some liftin in the morning. brant(professor) also made it up as well.

the next day, i came in early for the rules meeting and met up with paul key, phil duke, jr. and his crew from t-town, dave bowman, and drew gable. paul was there helping out a friend of his. since drew didn't have help, i helped him out on his squats and brant as well. drew hit a VERY easy 644 squat in a single-ply hardcore at 220. and this was his first meet as well. dave was lifting in the 275s and his partner in the 275s too and they were doin bench only. anyhow, brant didn't have the gas with him from just moving into his new house recently but on a very good day, those squats would of been toast. i pretty much chilled out the rest of the time waiting to get ready to bench.

brant had brought with him a dbl-ply rage x(56) that i warmed up with. my raw warmups were the same save the single with 405. i also used the elbow sleeves and wrist wraps i got from APT. warmed up to 525 on a 1-board and i was ready...hammer, gunny, and dave were also in my flight too. well...i got timed-out on the first attempt so i had to take 567 again on the 2nd attempt with the rage x up high. then went up to 606 and brant jacked it very well and got close to touchin before my arm bailed and i dumped it. i wouldn't of gotten anyways cause one of my hands was outside of the rings....LOL!! so i got clipped when they racked the weight. the strength is there...606 would of been fuckin done had i gotten another crack at it...so yea...600 is very possible...hammer ended up with the biggest bench of the meet...722.5 at 275 and gunny ended up with 680 at 242...who afterward had a training session after his lifting...very motivating...took 725 on a 2-board...dave only ended up with his opener of 680 at 275 and tried 740...couldn't get that one arm to lock. in a titan shirt...that would of been done!!

after my flight was over, i went to help drew on his bench but goin back and forth between him and phil, who both did great. phil, in a tighter shirt, would of nailed his last attempt which i believe was in the upper 400s. drew ended up with 413 and missed 451. not bad for a first meet!! freak is goin to have to beware of drew...LOL!! and achilles is goin to have to work harder cause phil is gettin closer and closer to a big squat and big bench. not sure what phil pulled so i'm sure he'll mention it in his log but had a big total at 148. jeff ray ended up with a mid-700 pull at 220 as well and darrell hoard had an awesome day as well...BAMA POWERLIFTING was well represented. paul(psparks) got full-exposed to the sport and had a very good time there too...he also did a very good job of lifting off for me as well as well as him, brant, and paul key handling me.

the highlight of this day was being the announcer for the remainder of the meet. jon recruited me(thanks to sparks) to annouce since the announcer he had was wanting to leave. so yea...i had a few fucktard moments there but i got better. LOL!! had fun doin it too...even threw a blurb for the forum out there too... but one word though, be on the lookout for two names, jim benson and keith taylor. both of these guys had some very impressive lifts and totaled some freakish numbers...either at or over 2000 at 220...seening these guys makes me almost do a full meet again...LOL!! when i find the results, i'll post them up here. james searcy attempted 854 on the deads at 308s or super. owned 818!! and sam byrd did 1003 and attempted 1030 at 198!! and the lifter who got first in the 308s bench only...with a 700 bench, had a build very simliar to mine!! long torso and long arms...so there is hope for me on the bench yet...seein him bench just fired me up and he trains at NGBB!

all in all...this one of the best meets i've been too...ranks right up there next to the WABDL 03 meet i did...it was close to 100 lifters there. i got a 27lb PR but still not happy after seein how close i was to 606...but i also know that 600 is a done deal!! though i'm not happy with the 567 since i knew i could do it in the first place. drew is also comin up to b'ham next saturday for a training session...and we'll work on gettin phil over so he can learn the use of bands/chains. the plan for the bench won't change...it works. just need the right shirt...so i'll be workin in that F6 as well as the metal i got from randy a few days before...still will be workin the squat and dead as well...and adding some front delt work from time to time...but needless to say i'm better/stronger than a 600lb bench...

big thanks to all here on THE RAGE as well as paul, tiny, randy, brant, buddy, chip, bubba and the outlaw crew in gadsden, drew, paul key, hammer and the CAT 5 crew, and tim(viking) for the big support...i really do appreciate it...my next meet...sam byrd's meet in chattanooga in november...650 is now the goal!!

ok...so i'm back training again cause i'm not that worn out from saturday...good reason..i've been doin 565 for 3 weeks prior to the meet...in the end...can't really call that a PR...LOL!! kinda feel and understand gunny now...i'm a lot better that a 567 and 606 now...i know u guys know this already...took me some convincing to do believe it too...

***man...its been a long-ass time since i've done a session like this...by the time i go thru squats i had that old sick feeling...means i'm doin something right...LOL!! but the deads moved ridiclously fast though...not surprised...somehow with every passing set on squats, my reps got "stronger" and on my deads, my last single was the fastest. then did some hamstring work, abs and adductor work and that was it. i won't do speed deads like i've done in the past and will keep the singles down to 6 but these sessions is what really made my squats and deads strong as shit!!

    feelin sick on speed/raw sessions...means i'm workin!!

***today was an awesome session...trained with drew gable a week after the NGBB meet. we had a very good training session...we we had pics though...forgot my digicam...LOL!! drew impressed me though, he's capable of a 405 raw bench...no question. he did 365 no prob!! then he does 315 for 3 sets on 4-board and 275 for 3 sets on 3-board. i did 275 and 315 on 3-board and 335 and 315 on 4-board. every rep was smooth until we got to the 4-board but they all were strong!! we tried nate's "cluster" method..which is doin one rep and taking a 10-15 sec break and doin another afterward. u keep doin this til u reach your desired reps. this helped us to maintain strength on the 4-board where we did straight reps and we both noticed a difference. i did 335 for a double but had to drop to 315 to stay at triples. drew had done 315 through all 3 sets. very strong rookie i would say...LOL!! then drew wanted to know what "lockouts" are and freak if your reading this...sit down and read closer...drew did 315, 405, 495, and 585 fuckin easy on lockouts!! then PRed and did 635 with NO wrist wraps. but he also held it at lockout for 5 seconds on all the weights until he dropped to 495 where he was having "fun" with for reps w/o wraps. and remember freak, he's in your backyard...
we went onto key presses which was another new movement for drew. he worked up to 85 for sets of 10 no prob! i did 100s for a set of 15 and a set of 12. then we did some high rows and supersetted flareouts with reverse pushdowns. drew's triceps are more fried than mine cause he did lockouts and looks like he can handle the high volume very well...really impressed. i will duplicate the same thing though cause i need the volume...maybe some high rep lockouts next week... i think i will...but still no heavy lockouts for another 3 weeks for me... but this will help me with the volume w/o goin full-range. i had a very strong session today and cluster method is fuckin ingenious...hell, i don't think i could of done that many reps had it done with cluster method. next week, i may try it on both 2-board and floor presses...see what happens. defintely would keep u injury free though...and in competition u do only 1 reps anyways...why not train it. may do the heavy lockouts the same way too...i can defintely see it raising some numbers to stay tuned bros!! this wasn't a bad session but i can tell that the meet took some steam out of me though...but first time using chains and bands together. after back and tricep work, we were done...chatted for a bit(long bit) and drew's lookin foward to a return trip to birmingham in the near future. hopefully we can get a session later this month with randy and jon...we'll see...but today was a productive and strong session! expect to see huge liftin out of drew very soon...once he gets a better shirt....watch out!! not to mention he's pullin 475 sumo raw...LOL!! i'll end today's post with something my friend big dave(who's gotten huge since the last time is saw him!!) mentioned to me on the phone...he told me that we as lifters are "insane" because we always want more even when we achieve out goals...i agree but then i said this....

....as long as we don't perform the definition of insanity...i'm alright with being insane!!

LOL!! so i had to make do with what i got. then did some more hammer work and triceps and then did some db farmers...and old favorite. didn't wind me too bad which is good...so i did 2 sets with 115s pretty easy!! i got some vids of my hammer press and hammer curls...check'em out...

    wide-GMs
    315/4x5

    calf and abs

***this session was awesome. back in briefs and it feels better on my knees...so let me explain the madness in doin singles w/o bands. well my body has gotten adjusted to bands for the 4 sets. also note, i used the cluster method again...its awesome!! so anyways, your body needs to adjust to the bar weight makin the core(w/ or w/o a belt...it still works it!!)work cause when i got under 405, i had to control it...the same with 495 and 545. i almost got barried with 545 the first time cause my core didn't activate. it was relying on the bands and since there was not bands...i almost got barried...so my core activated late. i got deep though...did 545 again this time staying tight and came out the hole fast!! but these singles was a lot more core work than anything cause by the time i got to GMs i was already feelin it in my hams and my core. did calf and abs and i was out. give this a go around...see for yourself...

now...two things happened that could only be explained by the work of the "big guy" upstairs... for one, brant(the professor) gave me a call yesterday that knocked my socks off. not only was i invited to WABDL worlds but i don't have to worry about the hotel room and my entry fee would possibly be cut in half. all i have to come up with is plane tickets and money for food so i'm goin...how could u pass up a offer like that?

the other thing that occured is that tonite of the gym owners was wearing a tee that said "trainordie.com" on it. it was one of my older designs from 3 years ago. so i told him "nice shirt" not knowing that was my website he was "advertising". he was shocked to hear that as i was when he told me where i got it from....bodybuilding.com!! i never gave those guys that or any other designs...but i believe that wasn't the reason for the talk...i told him if he liked that one...i had many others that were better than that so we talked business about my tees and i know i got a more than just interest here so we'll see how this turns out...

the big guy upstairs strikes again...i'm a believer now!!

***trained in tuscaloosa today with randy. it was a great session and boy do i suck-ass on floor presses. i would hopin to get 375 at least but randy critiqued me on form issues on those and hopefully i'll adjust. looks like i need to add back in db floor presses again...been a long ass time since i've done them. did very well on board work...did 3-boards instead of 2-boards since the floor presses would be too smiliar to the 2-boards. next week will be 2 and 4-boards. i also did the cluster method again and still a great method to use!! randy did some board work and i think from all the chain work he's done, his muscles were firing like he was still using chains...but dropped weight and got in to the groove again. then got into the shirt and work on boards til he go up to his opener, 535 and it was near touch but a struggle though...but he had done band work so i think 535 would be a good opener for him. i did some tricep and pec deck work cause we didn't want to be late gettin to church tonite. had a good day training(aside from the floor presses) and enjoyed myself at church and at dinner too.

***today was a strong session...apparently those extra 5lbs i put on since sunday must of been the reason. i should take note of that and what dave bowman had mentioned may make more sense than ever. did 675 for sets of 10 like it was my bitch and then dropped to 405 for 25 reps. did some inverted grip pulldowns with 180lbs for 3 sets and cable rows for 3 sets of 10 with 240lbs. may have to return to barbell rows next week just so i can get these high reps down...LOL!! then did 70s on db preacher hammers. i believe that's a PR for me on those but not sure...and did some pushdowns with the stack...probably will do JM presses to get some heavy tricep work. i also helped my friend big dave verbally as he was flipping a 1100lb tire for a total of 35 times...i know when he goes to his strongman comp, 700lb tire won't be shit for him...sorry no vids on the traps guys...had no one there to take a vid for me...LOL!!

1100lb tire 35 times nonstop?....are you sure of the weight..many people think they have a 1000+lb tire, but most have never had thier tire weighed...they go by the listed size and the weight new...a tire that size with 3/4 of the tread gone can be 300-400 lbs lighter than listed...just something to think about...I have trained with some of the strongest strongmem on the planet and not one could flip a 1100lb 35 times (maybe 5 times for 7 sets) the tire at the last WSM I think was 900 and there were guys who could not finish the course (about 7 flips), not doubting, just wondering...later, Strongman

its a true 1100lb tire...i've flipped it before and he did do it nonstop though but he did do it 35 times nonetheless. he's done meets where he flipped tires less than that and it was cake for him...

    ME squats
    bw: 285

    wide-stance GMs
    235/6 325/3 415/2 465/2 505/2 235/6

    speed deads
    315/7 singles

    GHR- bw/2x5

    calves&abs

    db farmers
    160ft w/ 115s for 2 trips

***tonite was one of those sessions where i didn't "feel" like bein in the gym but i pressed on cause neither a 650 bench nor a 2200+ total will be handed to me...on days like these i just have to MAN up and hit the shit. been a while since i did GMs and first time doin them out of a monolift. my core was still "lit" from last week's squat session and everything felt heavy because of my upper back work yesterday. after that i did some speed deads where the speed was moderate and GHR, calves & abs and and DB farmers and was done. helped chip with his shirt work again. he blasted up 425 and then we jacked the shirt and took it again and came up slower than the first but still strong.

i plan on fightin my way to 650 and 2200...

road to 650 takes a detour...

i have some unfortunate news...ran into a big financial hiccup...so doin worlds won't be possible...at least not this year folks. lets just say i'm still recovering from ATL and gettin hit with BIG payments such as rent and the final 2 car payments back to back. this wasn't the plan a week ago but plans do change...LOL!! so i'm now goin to train for the APF Southern States(another big meet!) in december...i know i'll be able to do that one at least...

    ME bench
    bw: ???

    raw bench
    135/12 225/8 225/6 315/2 315/1 405/1(very easy!!)

shirted bench with 2-ply metal pro viking
    455/3 495/3 545/2 585/1 605/1 625/1 635/1!!

    high rep db bench
    115/15-10-8

    reverse pushdowns w/ flareouts
3 sets of 15(80lbs on pushdowns and 35s on flareouts)

***this was just a "freakish" session. freak and flash(formerly bigredrookie) came up from montgomery today to bench heavy. chip and paul showed up for support and thanx guys for comin today.

of course this session wouldn't be a session w/o some shit talkin goin on. i talked some shit and paused 315 and freak paused 315 longer than i did. i somewhat paused 405 and he paused 405 a little longer than me and he hasn't touched 405 since the shoulder issue...bastard! LOL!!...any wonder now why i trained with freak in the past!! flash held his own bigtime today!! got up to an easy 365 raw. apparently tiny's method of warming up doesn't work just on me...LOL!!

then we moved onto 3-board work. me and drew(flash) did straight weight while jon(freak) did band work the way me and drew have been doin it. jon did 455 plus dbl lights for 3 sets of 2 and did a set of 3 with 455 plus dbl lights and dbl minis. then we took the bands off and started him back at 455 and worked up to an easy 625 on 3-board. he did a lot of sets but we know the next time he does straight weight, he'll have an even easier time gettin to mid-600s on 3-boards. and by the way...he had no where near the arch so he was "muscling" up all his weights...freakish indeed!!

drew fuckin kicked ass today. from all the band work we had been doin in the previous weeks, it showed its results today. even though he was in a new F6, i will still say that a lot of his training in the past 3 weeks has paid off. drew worked up to a 545 for a double before me and jon jacked his F6. keep in mind...we did this off a 3-board...not full-range. then after jacking it he almost tripled 545(did it for a double) and then moved onto 585 for single on two sets i believe(correct me if i'm wrong, drew) and then moved onto 600 where he muscled it up big time!! 600 off a 3-board in a single-ply F6 and a 220 at that...

then i did 455 and 495 for reps and then 545 for a double and 585 for a single which matched my PR on these. then 605 came up easy...then 625 was a bit slow to lockout but my 635 was stronger and better than 625!! this is a huge PR for me on these and i'm damn proud of it...i'm damn proud of all the work the three of us did today...must me something in that montgomery water...LOL!!

i got vids of my 625, drew's 545 and jon's 585 and got pics of all our last sets which are below...

some more news, jon is joining our crusade to the APF southern states...and we are goin to do a triple threat...me at 275, jon at 242, and drew at 220. look for some new avatars and yea...drew has graduated from "rookie" status...how many rooks are doin a 600 on 3-board...
i would say that drew is on target for a 550 bench in december, and me and jon could be both lookin at 650...fuckin awesome!!
well, enjoy the pics and vids guys...i think this session was partly motivated by tiny meeker's 948 bench!! THANX to chip and paul for helpin out again...u guys are awesome!! but all in all, with this training program that me and drew are on, i believe me, paul, and drew are onto something here...cause it worked on freak as well... after all that heavy benchin, we did some high-rep db bench presses, and the reverse pushdowns/flareouts supersets. jon believe that flareouts should be called "satan" presses...LOL! the first time drew tried this superset(2 weeks ago) it killed him the same way it killed jon tonite...but after 2 bench session he'll be hittin 45 with us on them...but i'll let jon tell the horror story on that...but me and drew were killin ourselves at the comments jon was making...LOL!!

    deload squat session...

    DE squats
    bw: 281

    cambered bar GM squats
    225/4x10

    leg extensions
    160/3x10

    calf/abs/add work

***this was a deload session and its a good thing cause i'm listening to my body a good bit...and doin GM squats was allowing me to use my hammies a lot more on squats and let less on my knees. plus, i haven't done them a lot in a while. also i'm a bit frustrated with some stuff in my life right now and i'm kinda having one of those days where everything and everyone outside of the gym is frustrating...including workin with amigos...LOL!!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    deload speed bench
bw: ???(forgot again but i'm pretty sure i'm at 285...)

    30-singles speed/cluster bench
(each single were done with 15 sec rest betweeen singles and
after 10 singles i took a 30 second rest break just enough to change bands)

    165 w/ 3 dbl minis- 10x1
    165 w/ 1 dbl mini- 10x1(fuckin fast!!)
    165 w/ 2 dbl minis- 10x1(skull fucked these singles!!)

    raw bench
    225/25!! PR for me!!

    db floor press
    85/15 85/2x10

    db rows
    115/3x20

    reverse pushdowns
    80/3x15

    flareouts
    35/3x15

    pec deck- 2x15

***this was an fuckin awesome workout. doin those cluster singles was awesome cause it allowed me to focus on dropping the bar faster which played out very nicely on the rep outs. the rep outs were just to put freak on notice and yea...i had 5 more reps in me...EASY brother...!! but as u will see from the vid, i'm droppin the bar a LOT faster and just for jon, i did 315 for 2 reps with a 10 second pause on them...just for shits and giggles. then onto db floor presses with 85...gotta get up to 100s for sets of 15 on these... and of course the reverse pushdowns and flareouts and i got a vid of the flareouts or what jon calls "satan" press or what drew calls "brute" press...LOL!! when u superset them with reverse pushdowns puts a punishing blow on the triceps...me and drew are saving lockouts for auburn...

    back/hammers/extra tricep work
    bw: 282

    rack pulls
    405/3 495/1 585/1 675/1 725/1
    765/3 800/1!!

    rack rows
    225/3x12

    barbell preacher hammers
    135/2x8 135/5

    db double strict hammers
    30/4x10

    JM press
    225/2x6

    extra tricep work

***tonite was a good session. PRed on rack pulls and they were done w/o a belt...FUCKIN CORE POWER!!LOL!! i easily tripled 765 whereas more than 2 months ago i tripled 725. after that i did rack rows where all your doin is resting the bar on the rack after every rep which takes out the momenteum...so try them sometime...after that is the usual hammer work and then did some JM presses and was done. watched chip pull 455 and broke 500 off the floor in briefs and belt. pretty awesome!!

also...just got "terminated" from my job today. due to multiple incidents that occured on the job, they couldn't keep me any longer. i believe this was the good lord's way of tellin me something...LOL!! seriously... i already knew this was comin since yesterday but no worries, i got 3 interview already lined up for tommorrow so hopefully something will come up cause i've been workin on it all day long...i'll keep u guys posted...

    ME squat
    bw: 282

    raw squats
    135/6 225/6 315/3

    w/ briefs
    315/3x3(w/ choked greens and blues)
    w/ briefs
    315/3x2(w/ choked greens)

    405/1 495/1 585/0(w/o band tension)

    adductor, GHRs and abs

***this was probably one of my best squat sessions in a while even with the dump with 585. my upper back will be sore though cause i was able to keep it tight w/o the bands...i've always been able to keep it tight under band tension. i had to control the speed when i dropped the blues...315 w/ chk greens didn't feel like shit. after 3 sets of those(all done with the cluster method!), i went to straight weight. i did 405 and 495 pretty easy off the bottom but when i got to 585, my "squattin" muscles didn't activate right so i came off the box and dumped the weight. but this is good folks...i know when i did this method of band work it exposed a weakness on my squats...which happens to a lot of lifters is that i got relaxed on the box instead of being tight...won't happen again. but when i dumped the weight one of the clips holding the chains in place broke so it created a bit of a mess. LOL!! someone had left regular clips made to hold 280lbs each hooked on the chains...not our usual...anyways, finish up my session with some adductor work, abs, and ham work. trained with steve from the APC today. did 315 for several sets with choked greens and then went down to 275 for 4 more. all looked easy. also, chip got 315 on his raw bench tonite too!! looked very easy!! had about 325 in him...did 495 off 3-board again too...see his log...got a pic of his 315 too!!

BUT let me say that training this way has made me humble but i believe the end result will be amazing to see...and plus if u don't have a bad session here and there...u aren't training 100%...

sometimes dumping weight...really makes a man out of ya

I'm still at ASF, just getting my feet wet on powerlifting. I'll be hitting you and the other good bro's on here up for some knowledge real soon. I've never trained for strength before, so I've got a long road ahead of me.
