been PL for yrs, but not in canvass for the sqt untill maybe 8 wks out from meet, mostly straps down untill 2 wks before then straps up, the QUESTION is i don't get that much out of suit, and guys get 100 or more carryover, is it because they train yr round w/ canvass and straps up, i know guy's train every wk w straps up, rather 5 to 1 reps THOUGHTS ??????

First off I have never used canvas and have heard that you need to be one strong mofo to benefit from it.
Either you need more time in the gear or employ partial rep work. For squats this can be done with heavier loads varying the heights like using boards for the bench. But nothing can work as efficiently imo as training in the equipment your going to compete in. I train with db's for the bottom of the movement I don't get when training shirted and I rotate raw squats in my routine as well to train the bottom of the movement. Heavier partial rep work is where you'll see some carryover benefit. |

I have a canvass suit. Tried squatting in it once, almost killed myself, decided I needed a little more in the seat before I went back to it. I set the goal of a certain raw squat before I get back into it. I think Blackcat is right, you just have to work in it and learn it, and be stronger than the suit.
