The other day was ME Bench day. I went in and warmed up as usuall, worked my way up then decided I felt good enough to hit a PR (RAW). The PR was only 10lbs heavier then my last warmup and was a weight id tried before (and missed).
I got under the bar, got set and had my spotter help me out. I took it down, touched my chest, pressed and thats about all I remeber. Next thing I know theres all these people standing over the top of me. I couldnt work out what was going on (nor did I really care). I still had headphones on so I couldnt hear either. As im looking up I start to realise that im in the gym, on the bench. Then I notice that all these people have a bar in their hands. I felt a tingle in my face and then it clicked. I remeber asking if the bar was on my face and my spotter was shaking his head. They managed to rerack the bar and I pulled off the headphones and satup. Persoanlly I thought it was pretty cool ![]() |

Um...whoa...I don't care if it's 135 or 535, shit that would scare the hell out of me. How did you feel afterward? You got to the doc or anything to get checked out. Dude, that definitely ain't cool to be passing out with iron over the top of you. Sounds like you had some good spotters.

is it hot in your gym.. the one and only time i have ever heard of anyone passing out (that wasnt old fat and having a heart attack) is this guy i was dating.. he was precomp and on slin (yes hes a retard) and the gym was warm and he hit the ground.. ended up in the hospital for 3 days..

I felt fine afterwards, hell I finished the rest of my assistance exercises
![]() Its mid winter so its defiantly not hot in there either. Looking back I think it might be a setup issue. because I was so psyched up for the lift I think I may have breathed in with my chest rather then my diaphragm. |

Dude!
I've nearly passed out after squats or deadlift max attempts but never bench press! You must have been tooooo tight! Just a suggestion but you might want to stay in a rack on ME days till you figure this one out and buy your spotters a couple rounds next time ya'll go out! |

Probably the valsalva maneuver. When you're pushing heavy weight some people close of the glottis, and push the air in their lungs against the closed glottis. This increases blood pressure a tremendous amount, and can cause you to pass out. Remember to breathe when you lift homie.

i squatted 365x1 on tuesday wich is a PR and let me tell u from the bottom of the rep all the way up and till i racked the weight my face was never so purple ... i think i was breathing not sure
