Yep. I don't much care for rack deads, they always caused a weird "pulling" feeling in my lower back that I didn't get with flood deads. It resulted in me not getting much more weight than I could off the floor, so I pretty well dropped them. Many people have mch greater success with them than me though. Just keep working at it!

I can only do racked deads ONLY out of fear of screwing my back up any more than it is. It's nice to get a rhythm going and land the bar square on the stops. Gets people to look you way but also if you're having a bad day and are afraid to pull something in your back... lightly or normally hit the center of the stops. They actually give you some bounce to help you get by a possible bad zone for your back.
