Well done ya big poof, Issue 5 is the best yet.
Highlight for me is the article you wrote on the Bayswater Gym, that epitomises all that BBing is about for me. |

I loved that gym, I feel the same way as you, gyms like this are what the sport is all about. Props to owner Drew Johnson for allowing me to publish it, "warts & all". He was absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. I've had more response from this article than any other article that we have done. People miss the old-school ways I think. |

If I ever win Lotto I will set up a gym just like that, deck it out with loads of free weight and hardcore euipment and have a set of rules something like:
No yuppies No spandex No pansy fit balls No aerobics classes, pump classes etc No personal trainers/"fitness consultants" (WTF is a fitness consultant??) All memberships will be approved by me and as I have just won lotto I dont give a fuck if I make any money so only hardcore BBers need apply. I would also buy a custom Harley and enjoy semi-retirement as a gym owner. |

Where is the beer-fridge for the Friday night "beer-o-clock" drinks. I can't believe you left that out! Apart from that, it sounds perfect. ![]() |

I know this maybe a bit taboo from what Mr Aust was saying.
Is there any chance you could do some stuff on gyms that are good, but not like the bayswater gym that was featured? There are so few of those traditional BB types of gyms around and a lot of lads can't get to them due to geography or cost or what ever. Personally I would love to train at somewhere like Doherty's or the one that you featured, but I can't. But maybe a featured spot or something on gyms that are really good, but not your normally BB gym. Sorry I am not explaining this well. This was my first issue, so not sure what you have done in the past. But great read Outtie! Churning my way through it at the minute. Thanks for producing a great mag! |

There have been some pretty "Hardcore" gyms featured - including Spartans, Industry & Mikes, just to name a few. Believe it or not, it's not that easy to find gyms to feature. Aussie Archives is purely just that - anything historic featuring Aussie bodybuilders, gyms etc. The bodybuilder needs to be reasonably successful & retired, as with any gyms we feature. Classic old gyms that have either closed down, or changed hands. The Bayswater Gym feature seems to have pleased everyone. I have never had a better response from any article that we have done so far. I'm glad you like the mag mate. |

Sorry Outtie, I hope it didn't sound like I was having a go at you. It wasn't my intention.
When you mean support BBing, is that any gym that is freindly to guys/girls that are really into their training seriously? I wish I had a gym like the Bayswater one near me. I like my gym, but one I can actually go into and not be hampered by small DBs or lack of equipment would be fantastic. Good read mate! |

Basically I won't be running profiles on Finance First and other gyms that we at HCAM believe are not passionate supporters of bodybuilders. My personal opinion is that gyms should be designed for serious weight trainers. If the average "Joe Blow" wants to join up, that's fine, but gyms these days seem intent on running bodybuilders out of them, rather than looking after them. It's all money related, so nothing will change unfortunately. Gyms that are designed by bodybuilders - for bodybuilders, deserve our full support. The rest don't. We will only feature gyms that support bodybuilders. |
