Colud I ask the ladies out there what type of contraceptive pill do they use which has the least fat gain side effects. I know it can vary from woman to woman, it's just my boyfiend cannot get on with condoms, and I don't want anything really thats gonna interfere with my first cycle of Var. I just thought I would investigate before I flately refuse to go on the pill for him, so any advice would be gratefully appreciated xxx

You'd have to see your GP about which one would suit you best. Also I'm not sure if they have this is England but there's a chip thing they put under your skin that apparently works as a contraceptive pill. Its been out here in Australia for a couple of years now. From what I know no weight gain, but you do have some "spot bleeding" at the beginning but the chip lasts for about two years.
But like I said go see your doctor about it, they would be able to tell you more. All the best with it ![]() |

I just got back on the pill. Only been on it for a little over a month and have already put on 10 lbs.
Loestrin 24. I'm going to try to stick it out for the recommended 3 month trial basis, but this sucks. Plus my jawline is broken out now like a hormonal teenager. |

The gym guy (aka lawn guy!!) was DEFINITELY a rebound and not a smart decision on my part. I'm not planning on jumping into bed with the new guy I'm seeing anytime soon (although I'm freakin' horny as heck!!!), but I want to make sure there isn't a chance of me getting pregnant. I'm Fertile Myrtle! |

The chip you are talking about is probably implanon which is progestin-only. Progestin-only BC (including the mini-pill) has the least liklihood of causing weight gain. They also come in different strengths from low to high dose pills with obviously low dose causing the least amount of side effects. A common problem is spotting & irregular bleeding in between periods for some women but it tends to stabilze after several months. I was on it for a long time in my last relationship and didn't get any periods at all for 3yrs. I had low bf% during this time which may have been why but once I gained some weight I had irregular & longer periods which was very annoying. Also keep in mind that weight gain with BC has more to do with feeling hungrier than anything else.
