Default Processed food examples?

Everyone hears to avoid processed foods.

Besides lunch meat at the deli of grocery stores, what are examples of processed foods?

Nearly everything is processed food these days. White bread, cereals, any confectionary, any of those sauces that come from a jar or can. All takeaway. Some packaged cheeses, veges, etc..... Even wine.

Anything that needs preservatives.

Basically anything that isnt fresh food left in its natural state.

Shit. Well I don't eat cereal or white bread, I do have wheat buns with my lean beef patties from Kroger though.

I do get a couple logs of cheese too from time to time.

So then how do you "avoid processed foods"?

Seems nearly impossible

If it can go bad if not eaten within a certain time frame, then it's not processed. Also if it's something that needs to be checked for freshness i.e meat, dairy, seafood, veggies and fruit...

So sliced turkey breast is considered a processed food? Damn! It is featured prominently in my diet. I guess that is a bad thing, huh? I always thought that processed carbs are what you have to look out for

It depends. If it is actually sliced 100% turkey breast it's ok. But most "lunch meats" are highly processed, pressed together bits and pieces of different meats and treated with preservatives and salts which your body can really do without.

Rather than risk eating pressed lips and assholes of various animals, just buy some turkey breast or chicken breast and cook it yourself in a pan or in the oven and slice it up after that.
