Unhappy I know I'm just a 'noob"...

But I am sooo sorry for your loss.

I send out the best vibe I got... may he find rest and enjoy the rest of his "journey"...

NOT to hi-jack... but my gorgeous wife and mother of my 3 kids that I've been married to and worshipped for the last 20 years, just out of the blue announced she's tired of being married and leaving "us"...

I've considered the same "option"... it's easy when your brain chems ain't right... and extreme duress can do that to ya...

Modern Society is so fucked up... especially since we've eliminated the "bad" guy...

So the "victim" usually bears the brunt... as the "crazy" one...etc.

Sorry for the hijack...and the little rant.

But no good human deserves this...

SORRY!

Very sad news. When I hear about these things it affects me deeply even though I didn't know him. R.I.P. Iron MIke.

Man, this is truly tragic. I can't believe with all these great accolades he's getting in this thread that I never had any encounters with him. Based on what you all are saying it sounds like I really missed out on a great brother.

My prayers are with his friends and family

Daddio, that's awful. You're right in that it's not respectful to hijack this thread but please start your own thread right away in the OT forum so people can offer you the support you need right now.

Peace

I've known him for nearly 8 years.......I still can't believe it. We chated at length a few months back........I know this will sound harsh, but part of me is wishing this is a dream or something. He's a mate. I knew he was down, but I didn't see this coming. I don't think anyone did.

A testament to the man IronMike was: A few years ago there was quite a heated debate between us American guys and The Aussie bro's about our militaries, and it got out of hand quickly, and I said a few things I regret. IronMike PM'ed me, and with very few words made me realize we are all in this together, and how ridiculous I was acting. I respected that man with all my heart from that day forward. He was a hero among us, and I will miss him greatly. Rest in Peace, IronMike, I hope you found the peace you were looking for.

Don't want to just 'do a head trip' on this tragedy, but it is important, especially for those of you who were his friends, and wish he had said something..or wish you could have done something.. There was nothing you could do. There is a kind of 'classic suicidal' personality, and it has a lot to do with early experiences of rejection (talking the first three years of life here) and that perceived rejection at such a vulnerable and trusting age leaves a psychic wound that never really heals. Every rejection is anticipated and contributes to the already badly wounded self image.. Not about how big you are, or how powerfully built.. its about how you feel about yourself inside.. and that 'classic' personality believes him or her self to be flatly unworthy of love and genuine respect. No words anyone can say are ever adequate enough to make up for what was lacking when that person was too young to any way cope with the evil that was done to them....lots written on the subject, and lots of perfectly sane reasons why bodybuilders would fit so easily into the mold. Hopefully the peace and happiness he felt so deprived of here..will be restored elsewhere.

This is a very very sad event for Australian BodyBuilding. IM was a genuinley caring guy who put a lot of time into this board and as a matter of fact is the sole reason the AC exists. His legacy will last a long time.

RIP Hamish

I agree with this. I actually fall into this category myself, unfortunately, as do other people I have known in the past who have taken their life. I've known several people have taken their own life despite going through significant counselling, anti-depressants etc. Life isn't always smooth sailing for anyone, but life is much more difficult for very sensitive people. It is the most sensitive of souls and often the nicest people who take their own lives, unfortunately. R.I.P IronMike.
